This four day sailing lesson combines Basic Sailing Lessons ASA 101 and Basic Cruising Sailing Lessons ASA 103. These Chesapeake Bay sailing lessons are for those who want to learn to sail, are preparing to day charter, or are thinking about buying a sail boat.
The curriculum includes more detailed boat handling, safety procedures and rules of the road. Completion of this course enables the student to safely captain an auxiliary sailboat 20-30 feet in length in moderate seas and winds. No prior sailing experience is necessary for this course.
The philosophy here is that you learn sailing on the water by sailing the boat. This school’s emphasis is on developing and practicing proper boat handling, cruising, and safety techniques. The goal is to assure that students not only achieve their ASA certification, but also know what to do when the ASA instructor is no longer present. By spending the majority of our sailing lessons on the water sailing, students retain their skills long after their sailing lessons have been completed.

First, you will learn about the fundamentals of kiting and what we call the “wind window”.

The tour of the Grand Canyon West Rim begin with a scenic 75 minute flight to the Canyon West Airport, located at the west end of the Grand Canyon and just a few minutes from the world famous Skywalk. Your tour will include several attractions unique to this part of the Canyon.
The most popular of all is the world famous Skywalk. This architectural marvel extends 65 feet over the edge of the Canyon, with its 4,000 foot depth right beneath your feet. As you venture out on to this amazing structure and look straight down through the glass floor, you can’t help but feel like you are a part of the Grand Canyon.
Just outside the Skywalk you will experience the Hualapai Indian Culture through Native American Performances and an Indian Village, ancient dwellings constructed in the traditional methods by local tribes. This area of the Canyon, known as Eagle Point, due to the formation in the Canyon walls that resembles an Eagle spreading her wings, offers spectacular views of Grand Canyon.
The next stop on the tour will be Guano Point. This location offers one of the most scenic places to enjoy lunch (provided with the tour) at an outdoor eating area on a plateau surrounded on three sides by the magnificent Grand Canyon. After your lunch, enjoy a leisurely hike along a trail that extends out into the Canyon and spectacular views.
The highlight of most visitors’ trip to the West Rim is the Helicopter ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. After a 10 minute flight to the bottom, you will disembark the helicopter and board a pontoon boat for a boat ride along the Colorado River. You will be able to experience the Grand Canyon as you look straight up the Canyon walls, giving you a unique perspective of the beauty of this magnificent wonder.
After the pontoon boat ride, you will board the helicopter for the 10 minute flight back to the top of the Grand Canyon.

Here’s one from my bucket list… Don’t laugh, but I’m old enough to have read a series of books when I was a kid, called “Biggles of the Camel Squadron”. They were stories of World War 1 English flying aces. The planes were Sopwith Camels, like Snoopy used to chase the Red Baron. This would fulfill a childhood fantasy for many like me and probably be a kick for any flyer you know.
Off we go into the wild blue yonder… Your mission: work with your instructor to outsmart, outmaneuver, and outgun your opponents over the course of six “g-pulling” dogfights. You will be manning the controls of a real, fully aerobatic, high-performance aircraft.
After attending a full briefing covering formation flight, gun sight tracking, and aerial combat maneuvers, you will don your flight suit and board the Marchetti SF260, a current production, Italian-built fighter aircraft. Once airborne, your instructor pilot will hand the controls over to you as you engage your enemy in actual combat!
Imagine yourself scanning the skies in a real military aircraft in search of an enemy airplane. You spot the bogey at 3 o’clock, break turn hard and the fight’s on. Up, down, and around. Pulling G’s, making quick decisions until you out maneuver your opponent, put the gunsight pipper on them, squeeze the trigger. The enemy erupts in smoke and you roll up and away, victorious!
The first half of your aerial battle will be spent hunting your adversary attempting to get a clear shot and kill, while the second half will be spent eluding enemy fire. May the best pilot win. Your entire flight is captured on mini digital video cassette to keep the memory alive for years to come. Great Gift!
